Now our benchmark technics have greatly evolved and we use Funkload and the APDEX indice to get much more precise results. Give a look to this, you'll surely enjoy.

Hi Rubens, sorry for the delay.

The etc/local.xml is made to configure Magento. You can set parameters for the Database splitting, Memcached handling, and many more things.

On the Zend question, I can't find back the settings, I'll ask my tech team about that.

Hi,

I'm moving to a new server and want to replace my APC cache with Zend Server. I have Magento up and running but don't know what to put in the cache directives in my app/etc/local.xml

I had this:

                apc
                alphanumeric

APC allowed me to check it was working in its web based GUI. I tried changing it to zend, zend_cache etc. but I don't see any files written to /usr/local/zend/tmp/datacache

Can you please tell me what to put there for using Zend Server Data Cache?

No we didn't use apache benchmark since the result he gives are totally not realistic. The fact that he loops on a precise page is making a lots of cache "over efficient" thus breaking the results. We usually use Siege, Opensta, Pylot or loadrunner depending on the needs. In this precise case we used Siege.

if you are interested in benchmark tools, check this great post here.
